Mr. Frederick Kaufmann, the CEO of NeverRest together with Mr. Kofi Bakye and paid a courtesy visit to Prof. Kobby Mensah, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC), to discuss a strategic collaboration aimed at strengthening tourism data systems in Ghana.

The NeverRest initiative known for deploying advanced tourism and environmental data technologies in destinations including Nepal, India, and Costa Rica is exploring opportunities to support Ghana in building a robust, digital data-driven foundation for destination management, policy planning, visitor experience enhancement, and sustainability reporting.

During the meeting, discussions focused on the generation and development of a comprehensive tourism data architecture that can accurately capture, analyse and interpret tourism flows, environmental impact, and community-benefit dynamics across key tourism zones in Ghana.

Prof. Kobby Mensah welcomed the initiative, describing it as timely and aligned with Ghana’s vision to modernize its tourism ecosystem and position the country as a smart, competitive destination in Africa and beyond. He emphasized the importance of ensuring national alignment and noted that he will engage the Minister for Tourism Culture and Creative Arts, on the way forward with this and the strategic coordination at the national level.

He also highlighted the need for capacity building, requesting clarity on training structures and onboarding procedures to ensure the system can be effectively adopted by Ghanaian tourism institutions and operational teams.

The engagement marks an important first step toward potential collaboration on smart-tourism systems, data transparency, and evidence-based policy improvement. If adopted, the platform is expected to support Ghana’s efforts in modern tourism management, visitor intelligence, cultural data mapping, and environmental sustainability planning.
