In a major step toward advancing agro-tourism in Ghana, the Ghana Tourism Development Company Limited (GTDC) and AgriHive Consult Ltd have formalized their collaboration with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in September 2025.
The signing, which took place at the office of the Chief Executive Officer of GTDC, Professor Kobby Mensah, marks the culmination of a productive engagement held in July, where both parties explored strategic areas of partnership to strengthen Ghana’s emerging agro-tourism landscape.
During the earlier discussions, the management team of AgriHive Consult Ghana’s leading agro-tourism agency outlined opportunities to leverage agriculture as a unique tourism attraction capable of promoting rural development, sustainability, and community empowerment. The GTDC team, in turn, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting innovative tourism ventures that align with its mandate to diversify Ghana’s tourism offerings.

Under the MoU, GTDC and AgriHive will jointly develop agro-tourism products and experiences across various regions, including community-based farm tours, agricultural festivals, farm-stay programs, and eco-friendly visitor experiences. The partnership will also introduce capacity-building programs for farmers and tour operators, alongside international promotional campaigns to position Ghana as a leading agro-tourism destination in Africa.
Team Leads of AgriHive Consult, Enyonam Manye, popularly known as The Ghanaian Farmer, and Miriam Osei-Agyemang, expressed their enthusiasm about the collaboration, reaffirming AgriHive’s commitment to developing sustainable, educational, and immersive agro-tourism experiences.

Joyous moment with Agrihive Consult
“This partnership represents a shared vision to connect people with Ghana’s farmlands, traditions, and food culture through tourism,” they noted.
As part of the first phase of implementation, GTDC and AgriHive will roll out two pilot Ghana Farm Tours in Aburi, scheduled for 28th–30th November and 5th–7th December 2025. These tours will offer travelers hands-on agricultural and cultural experiences, including:
- Visits to three farms in Aburi
- Tent camping experiences
- Night bonfire, grills, and local bar
- Local cuisine farm dining
- Agribusiness workshops
- Bean-to-pod chocolate-making experience
The farm tours aim to connect travelers with Ghana’s rural communities through authentic engagement, highlighting agriculture as both a livelihood and a rich tourism experience. The collaboration between GTDC and Agri Hive underscores a shared vision to use tourism as a catalyst for rural transformation, youth empowerment, and sustainable economic growth. With the MoU now in effect and pilot tours set to begin in November, Ghana’s agro-tourism sector is entering a new chapter that blends agriculture, culture, and adventure.
