The 2025 Heritage Theatre Arts Festival, organized by Heritage of Africa   Ghana, took place from 6th to 12th October 2025 at the School of Performing Arts, University of Ghana, under the theme “Threads of Heritage: Weaving the African Identity.”

The week-long celebration brought together theatre enthusiasts, artists, students, and cultural leaders to explore how Ghana’s diverse ethnic traditions shape the country’s modern identity. Through performances, workshops, and creative showcases, the festival reaffirmed the power of the performing arts in promoting national pride, youth engagement, and cultural tourism.

Supported by the Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC) and other key institutions, the event served as a bridge between culture and tourism, reinforcing Ghana’s commitment to positioning the creative arts as a driver of economic growth.

Appreciating Leadership and Partnership

In recognition of his outstanding leadership and support for Ghana’s creative industry, Mr. Gladstone, Lead Organizer of the Heritage Theatre Arts Festival, paid a courtesy visit to Professor Kobby Mensah, Chief Executive Officer of GTDC.

During the visit, Mr. Gladstone presented a citation of appreciation to Prof. Kobby Mensah at his office, acknowledging GTDC’s role in advancing cultural partnerships and empowering the creative arts as a vital component of Ghana’s tourism development strategy.

Prof. Kobby Mensah expressed his gratitude for the gesture, emphasizing GTDC’s continued commitment to investing in cultural events that highlight Ghana’s artistic excellence and strengthen community-based tourism.

Culture as a Pillar of Tourism

The Heritage Theatre Arts Festival featured diverse stage performances, masterclasses, exhibitions, and discussions led by industry professionals. It offered a platform for young talents to learn, collaborate, and showcase creativity while connecting with tourism opportunities.

Through strategic support and collaboration, GTDC continues to play a leading role in promoting cultural tourism, creating sustainable linkages between the arts, heritage, and national development.

As the curtains closed on the 2025 edition, one message stood clear Ghana’s stories, expressed through theatre and performance, remain a powerful tool for unity, identity, and growth.
