The cultural spotlight shines brightly as Prof. Kobby Mensah, CEO of the Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC), joins forces with veteran actor and respected creative arts practitioner Mr. Abeiku Sagoe to champion a groundbreaking cultural celebration, the Fihankra African Traditional Music Festival. Prof. Kobby Mensah, known for his transformative leadership in advancing Ghana’s tourism and creative economy, has officially endorsed the festival and expressed strong support for its vision. He further indicated his commitment to ensuring the event is profiled on the Ghana Tourism Marketplace (GTM), enabling seamless ticket access and festival package purchases for both domestic and international audiences.

Alongside him, Mr. Abeiku Sagoe brings decades of artistic excellence and cultural stewardship from Ghana’s film and performing arts industry, reinforcing the festival’s mission to preserve and elevate Africa’s authentic sound heritage. Together, they are lending their influence to restore global appreciation for Africa's original musical traditions the ancestral rhythms, drums, flutes, strings, chants, and storytelling styles that form the foundation of world music.

The Fihankra African Traditional Music Festival is a biennial celebration designed to showcase the rich, organic soundscape of Africa, bringing together practitioners, scholars, creatives, investors, tourism enthusiasts, and cultural custodians from across the continent and the diaspora. As part of the December in GH cultural calendar, the festival promises immersive experiences in traditional African music, arts, dance, craft, heritage, and tourism.

This maiden edition will take place in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital, with programs hosted across the Koforidua Youth Development Centre, the Centre for National Culture, and Koforidua Technical University from 28th December to 1st January. Organized by The Summit Concepts Ltd and powered by a non-profit committee supported by traditional leaders in the Akuapem North area, the festival aligns with national cultural and tourism development goals under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, with collaboration from local municipal authorities.

With endorsement from Prof. Kobby Mensah and creative leadership from Mr. Abeiku Sagoe, the Fihankra Festival stands as a bold cultural milestone positioning Ghana as the heartbeat of African heritage, empowering creative talent, boosting cultural tourism, and inviting the world to rediscover the pure soul of African music through its roots
