The Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC) on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, organised a press briefing in Accra as part of efforts to formally engage the media and present its strategic direction for strengthening Ghana’s tourism sector through innovation, investment mobilisation, and digital transformation. The briefing brought together key media stakeholders and served as a platform for GTDC to outline priority initiatives aimed at improving efficiency within the tourism value chain, expanding market access, and positioning Ghana as a competitive tourism and investment destination.

Addressing the media, GTDC Board Chairman Ben Ohene Ayeh highlighted the company’s commitment to modernising tourism promotion and leveraging private-sector participation to unlock the full potential of Ghana’s tourism assets. He explained that GTDC’s strategy is anchored on creating structured, investor-ready opportunities while enhancing the visibility of tourism products and experiences across the country.
A major announcement at the briefing was the upcoming launch of the Ghana Tourism Investment Platform, a digital gateway designed to attract and direct private investment into flagship tourism projects nationwide. According to Mr. Ayeh, the platform will provide investors with credible project information, improve transparency, and accelerate the development of tourism infrastructure that supports job creation and economic growth.

The Board Chairman further underscored GTDC’s focus on product innovation, citing initiatives such as AccraByNight and the company’s fleet-pool management services. These projects, he noted, reflect a renewed emphasis on creativity, experiential tourism, and operational excellence, while supporting tourism businesses with practical, market-driven solutions.Updates were also provided on the performance of the Ghana Tourism Marketplace (GTM), GTDC’s digital sales and distribution platform. Since its rollout, GTM has onboarded 50 vendors, generated over GH₵20,000 in revenue, and attracted more than 240 users, demonstrating growing confidence in digital platforms as a catalyst for tourism growth.

Elaborating on the vision behind GTM, GTDC Chief Executive Officer Prof. Kobby Mensah described the platform as the digital backbone of Ghana’s tourism ecosystem and a strategic gateway for both domestic and international travellers. He emphasised that GTM is central to building a transparent, efficient, and globally competitive digital tourism economy.Prof. Kobby Mensah also used the occasion to encourage Ghanaians to embrace patriotism and actively protect their cultural identity, stressing that tourism thrives when citizens take pride in their heritage and play an active role in preserving and promoting it.
