The Ghana Tourism Development Company Limited (GTDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering youth engagement in Ghana’s tourism sector through a meeting with the Tourism Society of Ghana (TOSOGHA). The meeting, held at the GTDC Head Office, marked a pivotal step in solidifying a strategic partnership aimed at advancing domestic tourism initiatives for students and young people nationwide.

The TOSOGHA delegation, led by Executive Director Mr. Joseph Amartey and comprising members of the National Secretariat and National Executives, was warmly received by GTDC’s leadership, CEO Professor Kobby Mensah. Prof Kobby Mensah underscored the company’s dedication to making youth empowerment, cultural education, and national heritage appreciation integral part of Ghana’s tourism agenda.

Professor Kobby Mensah emphasized GTDC’s vision to ensure that tourism development in Ghana is both inclusive and youth-driven. “The future of Ghana’s tourism sector depends on the active participation of young people,” he said. “We are committed to working closely with TOSOGHA to provide platforms and experiences that inspire our youth to embrace and promote Ghana’s rich cultural heritage.”

Discussions during the meeting centered on shaping the future of youth-oriented tourism in Ghana. GTDC outlined plans for collaborative events such as the Accra Night Tours tailored for tertiary students, the BCampus Connect experience designed for Senior High School students, and the Assin Heritage Adventure a dynamic educational tour blending history, culture, and fun.

The meeting also explored opportunities to integrate tourism education into academic enrichment programs and enhance student exposure to Ghana’s key tourist sites. Professor kobby Mensah expressed optimism about the transformative impact these initiatives will have in cultivating a stronger tourism culture among Ghanaian youth.

As Ghana’s tourism landscape continues to evolve, GTDC’s proactive approach highlights its unwavering commitment to building a generation that is not only aware of Ghana’s cultural wealth but also inspired to preserve and promote it.

With activities set to commence in the coming months, GTDC calls on stakeholders to support this new chapter in youth-driven tourism, ensuring a vibrant and sustainable future for Ghana’s tourism industry.
