The Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC) held a strategic engagement with the organisers of the MK Pop-Up Buffet Experience to explore areas of collaboration aimed at deepening culinary tourism.
The meeting centred on the upcoming MK Pop-Up Buffet Experience, Accra Edition, scheduled for 1st May 2026, with discussions focusing on institutional endorsement from GTDC, media visibility, and digital promotion. As part of the collaboration, the event will be amplified across GTDC’s communication channels, including integration on the Ghana Tourism Marketplace through the upload of flyers, video content, and structured ticket sales support. The partnership will also explore a curated AccraByNight engagement, positioning the buffet experience as part of the city’s night tourism offering.
In the lead-up to the event, Prof. Kobby Mensah, CEO of GTDC, will receive a specially curated dramatic PR box in April as a promotional build-up to drive anticipation and public interest.
Beyond Accra, the meeting also explored a potential Akosombo experiential trip (Keteke edition), where the MK Buffet Experience team will showcase a traditional culinary activation featuring Abolo Plata, tentatively scheduled for April. This concept seeks to merge rail tourism, destination dining, and cultural storytelling into a single immersive journey.
A major highlight of the engagement was the CEO’s recommendation for the development of a Digital Food Palates Initiative a national digital platform that will document and showcase indigenous Ghanaian dishes across all sixteen regions. The proposed platform will serve as a visual and informational hub where users can explore regional cuisines, discover food heritage, and connect culinary experiences to tourism destinations.
This collaboration positions food not only as nourishment but as a powerful tourism asset linking destinations, culture, and digital innovation to create new pathways for domestic tourism growth and experiential travel.
